Abstract:

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass has a recognised problem called bowel blockage. The cause, Bezoar, is unusual.We present a case of a 53-year-old female who, one year after undergoing a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass for morbid obesity, had small intestinal blockage due to a phytobezoar at the distal ileum. The diagnosis was made using a computed tomography scan, which was a very helpful technique. Successful minimally invasive surgery was performed on the patient.
